A person has been left with “life-changing” injuries after being hit by a train in Rhondda Cynon Taf. On Saturday, September 14, all lines between Penrhiwceiber and Aberdare were closed between 5 pm and 7 pm while emergency services carried out their work after a person was hit by a train on the Valleys line. British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed officers and paramedics were called to the Mountain Ash railway station on Monday, September 16, around 4.34 pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks. The police stated the injured individual was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be “life-changing”. The incident is not considered suspicious.
Trains scheduled between Pontypridd and Aberdare on Saturday were either cancelled or revised due to the incident. The National Rail spokesman confirmed the nature of the occurrence.
