Parts of Swansea city centre were brought to a standstill after a suspicious package was left at the main police station, leading to roads being closed off while authorities investigated the situation. The incident unfolded early on a Friday morning when the alarm was raised at 7.25am. Specialised officers examined the package, which turned out to be an old suitcase filled with what appeared to be different types of weapons.
Several streets surrounding the Grove Place station were cordoned off as a precautionary measure. Buses had to change their routes, and people were unable to access their homes and businesses during this time. The suitcase, with its lid open, was left outside the police station, creating a tense situation for onlookers.
While it was unclear whether the weapons in the suitcase were real or fake, they were described as being of various types and possibly resembling toys. The briefcase was of an old-fashioned style, adorned with New York street names on its cream exterior, a brown leather handle, and gold-coloured fixings.

The area was eventually declared safe following assessments by specialist officers, and all roads were reopened just before 9.45am.
