Flood alerts have been issued in Wales as heavy showers and thunderstorms hit the region. Natural Resources Wales has issued five flood alerts, although no flood warnings or severe flood warnings have been issued so far.
The alerts come as the Met Office has extended yellow weather warnings for torrential rain across the UK, urging the public to prepare for potential flooding and power cuts. In Wales, three weather warnings are in place from Saturday through to Monday, with some areas expected to see 30-50mm of rainfall within six hours.
The flood alerts cover various coastal areas, including the Ceredigion coast between Clarach and Cardigan, Swansea Bay and the Gower coast, North Gower coast, Carmarthenshire coast, and the Pembrokeshire coast. These areas face risks of flooding due to high tides, which started as early as mid-September.
Natural Resources Wales continues to monitor the situation closely and advises caution on beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, roads, and low-lying areas close to estuaries. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the latest weather alerts and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
