The best restaurant and hotel in Wales are announced at the 2024 AA Hospitality Awards

The AA Hospitality Awards 2024 have unveiled the best restaurant and hotel in Wales. Recognised venues include Penally Abbey Hotel, The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff, and Plas Dinas Country House. Thomas by Tom Simmons in Cardiff scooped the Restaurant of the Year award for its “seasonal modern British cooking” and excellent wine list. The restaurant’s menu was praised for dishes like citrus cured salmon and Cornish brill, with the blend of flavors earning high praise. The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff city centre was named Hotel of the Year in Wales, offering luxury and elegant accommodations in a historic setting. The venue boasts superior rooms, Parkgate Suites, a spa, and the Sorting Room restaurant. The awards ceremony also honoured Plas Dinas Country House with a wine award and Penally Abbey with 3 AA Red Stars for exceptional facilities. The event celebrated excellence in the hospitality industry and recognised outstanding contributions in hotels, spas, restaurants, and B&Bs. The Chefs’ Chef of the Year title was awarded to Tom Aikens of Muse in London, acknowledging his culinary expertise and charitable work.

Additional winners included The Greyhound in Buckinghamshire, The Silver Birch in London, Loch Bay Restaurant in Isle of Skye, Down Hall Hotel & Spa in Hertfordshire, The Dorchester in London, Cromlix in Stirling, and The Ebrington Hotel in Londonderry. The event highlighted the strength and innovation within the industry, with managing director Simon Numphud commending the dedication and excellence displayed by hospitality teams. The prestigious awards recognised the best establishments and individuals driving the industry forward with their remarkable contributions. Wales excelled in the awards, showcasing its top-tier hospitality offerings and reinforcing its position as a premier destination for food and accommodation.
