In a dramatic turn of events, a Class A drug dealer, Sambou Kassama, attempted a risky escape by leaping from a first-floor window during a police raid in Ely, Cardiff. The 27-year-old’s getaway was cut short as he was later found hiding in a neighbour’s garden. The police raid on July 4 uncovered Kassama’s operation involving two drug lines dealing crack cocaine and heroin in the area.
Drone footage captured the moment Kassama disposed of drugs out of a back bedroom window before making his unsuccessful escape over neighbours’ fences. He was apprehended and later admitted guilt to various drug-related charges, including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs. The sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court disclosed the discovery of heroin, crack cocaine, cannabis, weapons, and cash at Kassama’s property.
South Wales Police emphasised their zero-tolerance stance towards drug-related crimes and highlighted the importance of public cooperation in combating drug dealing in communities. Kassama was subsequently sentenced to four years and four months in prison for his involvement in drug distribution. The police reinforce their commitment to cracking down on drug-related activities and urge the public to continue providing valuable information to aid their efforts.
