City Pool and Gym to Stay Closed for Longer After Power Outage
Cardiff International Pool and Gym is set to remain closed until Monday, September 30, after efforts to resolve an issue stemming from a power outage took longer than anticipated. The facility was initially shut down following a power failure that revealed a significant underlying problem requiring infrastructure work. Parkwood Leisure, the operators, had initially aimed to reopen the pool by the start of the week, commencing on September 23.
However, customers were informed on Tuesday, September 24, that the closure would be extended until Monday, September 30. In the meantime, patrons have been advised that they can utilise other facilities in the Vale of Glamorgan, such as Penarth Leisure Centre, which will be adjusting its gym opening hours from 6 am to accommodate pool users.
A statement from Parkwood Leisure indicated, “Following the power outage at the venue last week, our Contractors have continued to work through the weekend to resolve the issue. Whilst good progress has been made, unfortunately it seems that full power will not be restored until later this week, with a full reopening of the venue estimated to be on Monday 30 September 2024.”
The statement continued to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the extended closure and assured members that efforts were underway to minimise any disruption. Updates and details regarding direct debit costs for swim, gym, and learn to swim members will be communicated directly.
