An air ambulance was called after a “serious” crash on a major north Wales road which caused 30-minute tailbacks. Emergency services were called to a crash at the junction of the A55 and A494 at Ewloe, Flintshire on Tuesday, September 24. The incident affected all traffic into north Wales as it required the A55 to be closed, with a stretch still shut at the time of writing.
Traffic Wales announced that the A55 at Ewloe and the A494 would be closed following a “serious” crash shortly after 5pm on Tuesday. An air ambulance was called to the scene and traffic was held just before 5.10pm, reports North Wales Live. It had departed by 6.15pm and the A55 reopened, as did the A494 later on Tuesday evening. However, at the time of writing, the A55 westbound exit slip road to Mold Road remained closed.
Drivers reported a total “standstill” during the closures, urging others to avoid the A55 “at all costs.” The nature of any potential casualties has not yet been confirmed. The air ambulance responded swiftly to the scene, ensuring medical aid could be provided promptly. The incident caused significant disruption to traffic flow in the area, leading to extensive delays.
