Quality Street, a beloved part of UK Christmas traditions, is set to bring back a nostalgic sweet that was discontinued in the 1980s. Nestle has announced that the Coffee Creme, which was originally part of the Quality Street selection tin in 1936, will be making a comeback this festive season. Following a limited run last year, the coffee-flavoured fondant covered in dark chocolate will rejoin the Quality Street assortment exclusively at John Lewis and Waitrose stores.
The return of the Coffee Creme will mark a special occasion for fans of the iconic chocolate assortment. It will be available at select John Lewis stores in the UK, where shoppers can create their own bespoke collection of Quality Street sweets at pick and mix stations. Additionally, the Coffee Creme will be featured in a limited-edition cracker at Waitrose and John Lewis, adding to the festive offerings for customers. The new development includes a brand-new Quality Street tin design inspired by the Halifax heritage of where the sweets are produced.
Emily Grimbley, Brand Manager for Quality Street, expressed excitement about the return of the Coffee Creme, calling it a fan favourite that will delight Quality Street enthusiasts nationwide. John Lewis Christmas Buying Lead, Lisa Cherry, also expressed enthusiasm for the Quality Street products’ return, anticipating a positive response from customers during the holiday season. The exclusive collection, including the limited edition tin design and Coffee Creme Cracker, will be available at John Lewis and Waitrose stores nationwide.
In preparation for the festive season, John Lewis’s flagship Oxford Street store will open its pick and mix station on September 25, with other participating stores following suit in October. The pick and mix stations will offer customers the opportunity to curate their ideal selection of Quality Street treats. The release of the new tin design celebrates the UK manufacturing heritage of Quality Street and aims to provide families with a lasting keepsake for generations to come.
