A man has been placed on the sex offenders register after he secretly filmed a woman performing a sex act on him without her knowledge. The incident took place in 2023 when the female, who was under 18 at the time, was filmed by Samuel Ace, who then shared the video with another woman during a “sexual conversation.”
Ace’s barrister defended him by mentioning the ease of taking photos nowadays compared to the past when films needed to be developed at a store. Despite the consensual nature of the act, Ace’s actions were deemed a serious criminal offence by Swansea Crown Court. The victim expressed feeling degraded, embarrassed, and ashamed upon discovering she had been filmed without consent, seeking counselling to cope with the aftermath.
Acknowledging his mistake, Ace pleaded guilty to voyeurism. The judge, Recorder Greg Bull KC, highlighted the gravity of Ace’s offence, noting his intent to satisfy his own sexual desires. With a 20% discount for his guilty plea, Ace received an 18-month community order, including a rehabilitation course and 50 hours of community service. Additionally, he will be on the sex offenders register for five years.
