The 13 amazing winners of the 2024 Child of Wales Awards

The 2024 Child of Wales Awards recently took place in Swansea, honouring the remarkable achievements of 13 inspirational young people from Wales. The event, aimed at raising funds for charities, highlighted children across different categories, including Community Champion, Courageous Family, and Young Leader.

The star-studded ceremony was held at Swansea Arena and hosted by Gethin Jones, with appearances from celebrities like Love Island’s Liam Reardon and Paige Thorne and The Traitor’s Andrew Jenkins. Notably, the cast of Gavin & Stacey also sent a special message in support of the event.

Among the winners was Eden Lewis, an 18-year-old diagnosed with osteosarcoma and lung metastases, who displayed exceptional resilience in the face of terminal cancer. Eight-year-old conjoined twins, Marieme and Ndeye Ndiaye, overcame challenges to thrive and attend mainstream school.

The Ridler Family, recipients of the Courageous Family award, shared their heartbreaking journey of battling cancer with their son Morgan, who sadly passed away. Poppy Roberts was recognised as an Exceptional Young Carer for her dedication to caring for her autistic brothers.

Faith in Families, a charity in Swansea, was acknowledged for its impactful work supporting children and families. Other winners included young fundraiser Rhys James, brave Theo Pulman, talented dancer Jaiden-Rees Griffiths, and environmental champion Alyssa Faith Fallorina Dean.

In the sporting category, Tomi Roberts-Jones and Megan Thyer were recognised for their outstanding achievements in para-athletics and Jujitsu, respectively. Soffia Kelly, a young leader, was applauded for her determination and community spirit, despite facing obstacles like bullying.

The awards provided a platform to celebrate the incredible children of Wales and their remarkable accomplishments, demonstrating the strength, resilience, and talent present in the younger generation of the country.
