Shocking new footage has emerged of two callous criminals laughing as they deliberately mowed down a cyclist in a heinous act of violence. Patrick James, 22, and Phillips Adams, 26, are set to face sentencing on Monday for their despicable actions. The distressing incident, captured on James’ mobile phone, shows the car deliberately swerving onto a pavement to strike cyclist Julian Ford off his bike.
The appalling video was discovered as police were investigating James and Adams for another hit-and-run offence just ten days later, where they targeted NHS worker Katungua Tjitendero. The second attack saw Tjitendero being struck by the duo while he was walking to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. The ruthless criminals callously fled the scene after the assault, leaving Tjitendero with severe injuries, including a broken nose, fractured leg, and facial wounds.
Speaking on the case, Detective Superintendent Mike Buck from Avon and Somerset Police condemned the assaults as “absolutely sickening.” He highlighted the calculated nature of the attacks, linking the two incidents and exposing the dangerous mindset of the duo. The court heard that the first attack on cyclist Julian Ford took place on July 12, 2020, followed by the vicious assault on NHS worker Tjitendero on July 22, 2020.
CCTV footage revealed the unparalleled brutality of the assault on Tjitendero, capturing the moment the car abruptly struck him from behind as he headed towards a bus stop after completing his shift. The devastating impact left Tjitendero with life-changing injuries, prompting an urgent dash to the hospital for emergency treatment. The court proceedings also shed light on the pair’s acquisition of the blue Honda Accord used in the attacks and their subsequent attempts to evade justice.
