A lorry has plunged 60 metres from a bridge on the M6 motorway in Cheshire, landing on the embankment below. The incident occurred at the Thelwall Viaduct between junctions 20 and 21, with Cheshire Constabulary confirming the driver did not sustain life-threatening injuries. The dramatic event took place around 6:50 pm on Monday, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Firefighters deployed rescue equipment to reach the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service successfully cooled the lorry and prevented a fuel leak of approximately 1,000 litres. Due to damage to the barrier, three lanes on the northbound carriageway are anticipated to remain closed until morning, with one lane open at a reduced speed limit.
