People in part of Wales are being warned that river levels will rise every high tide and there could be flooding

A flood alert has been issued for south Pembrokeshire, with river levels expected to remain high for the best part of a week. Natural Resources Wales has issued a warning on its website concerning the River Ritec in the Salterns area of Tenby. It has explained that, due to restrictions at the tidal outfall, river levels are likely to remain high for five days, and are expected to rise slightly as each high tide arrives. Flooding of low level land and roads is expected as a result.

In a warning concerning rivers in South Pembrokeshire, Natural Resources Wales has written on its website: “Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected. Flooding is possible due to expected high tides. Due to restrictions at the tidal outfall, river levels in the River Ritec in the Salterns area of Tenby are likely to remain high for five days. You may notice river levels rising slightly as each high tide arrives. We will continue to monitor the situation.”

Across Wales, the Met Office has forecast a dry and settled evening for Wales on Wednesday, October 2, with skies gradually clearing overnight, resulting in cold temperatures with frost in rural areas. Light winds will allow mist and patchy fog to form by dawn. For Thursday, October 3, a cold start is expected, with fog and patchy frost in rural areas, followed by a dry and bright day with light winds and warm sunny spells, reaching a maximum temperature of 17°C.
