A battle over the proposed construction of a substantial 216-home development outside Swansea continues as house-builder Persimmon Homes ponders its next steps. The controversial development in Gowerton faced rejection by Swansea Council’s planning committee due to concerns over increased congestion and its impact on residents. The committee voted five to four, with two abstentions, against the scheme, highlighting traffic issues and loss of greenery as key reasons.
Despite objections from locals and councillors, planning officers initially found the project acceptable. Persimmon Homes argued that the housing units were necessary, expressing disappointment over the refusal. The company is now evaluating its options moving forward as the debate escalates.
