The family of Emma Louise Morris has been left in “unimaginable devastation” after a horrific crash claimed the life of the cherished mother-of-two. Jaqueline Mwila, 51, from Mount Pleasant, Swansea, was sentenced to over seven years at Llandudno Court for causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The tragic incident occurred last April on the Y Felinheli bypass where Mwila’s attempt to overtake led to the untimely death of Pwllheli mother Emma, along with injuries to her son Jack and fellow motorist Malcolm Williams.
Emma, aged just 28, tragically passed away at the scene of the accident. The family’s statement following Mwila’s conviction expressed their enduring pain and heartbreak, stating that their lives have been forever altered by the recklessness of the driver. They lamented the loss of Emma and the future her children now face without their loving mother, highlighting the constant pain and shattered hearts they endure.
PC Gareth Rogers of the North Wales Police serious collisions investigation unit shared sentiments of sympathy for the family, acknowledging that while Mwila is imprisoned, nothing can bring Emma back. The officer emphasised the devastating consequences of momentary lapses in concentration while driving and hoped that Mwila’s sentence would serve as a reminder of the profound impact of dangerous driving on families and communities.
In addition to the jail term, Mwila will face a lengthy driving ban and be required to undertake an extended driving test upon its completion.
