Heartbroken mum, Leanne Ralls, is preparing to hold her son Riley Jay Sheen’s funeral on what would have been his seventh birthday. The young boy, described as “always laughing,” tragically passed away at the age of six on September 13. Riley had faced health challenges since birth, including complications, a cleft palate, and Pierre Robin syndrome, spending much of his early life in hospitals. Despite these struggles, Leanne shared that Riley was “thriving” before his sudden death.
Leanne recounted the difficult journey she and Riley had been on, including surgeries, hospital stays, and medical procedures like a tracheostomy to help him breathe. She expressed her gratitude towards the medical teams who had cared for Riley, particularly praising the staff at Noah’s Ark Hospital and the cleft team in Swansea for their support.
Describing Riley as a bright and lively child who loved singing, dancing, and making people laugh, Leanne spoke fondly of his infectious personality and kind heart. She highlighted how much Riley enjoyed school, playing with friends, and participating in activities like football. His funeral, set to take place on his birthday, will be a heartbreaking milestone for Leanne, who expressed that her world has been shattered by the loss of her beloved son.
Despite her deep grief, Leanne emphasised how Riley had made her a stronger person and had brought immense joy to everyone who knew him.
