Former IT worker Jaroslaw Pecherzewski was sentenced to 15 months in prison for robbery after assaulting his wife, Swansea Crown Court heard. The court was told that Pecherzewski, who has a history of domestic violence, claimed to be a policeman while robbing a stranger outside his flat. The victim, intimidated by Pecherzewski’s aggressive behaviour, reported the robbery to the police.
On the same day of the robbery, officers responded to reports of Pecherzewski assaulting his wife. They found the missing holdall outside his flat and identified him as the culprit from CCTV footage. During his interview, Pecherzewski admitted to consuming alcohol and argued that he mistook the holdall for his own. The court noted his previous convictions for assaults on his wife.
Pecherzewski, of Griffith John Street, Dyfatty, Swansea, pleaded guilty to robbery and the assault on his partner. His defence stated he was seeking help for alcohol issues and wished to return to his IT career. The judge criticised Pecherzewski as a “bully and thug” with a violent temper, sentencing him to 15 months in prison with a one-quarter discount for his guilty plea.
