The face of Jack the Ripper has been revealed according to an author who has been studying the case for 30 years and claims to know why the killer mutilated his victims. Russell Edwards, a Ripper researcher, has utilised new facial remodelling technology to create a CGI black-and-white image of how the murderer would have looked at the time. Edwards used DNA evidence from the shawl of one of the victims to “prove” that Jack the Ripper was actually Aaron Kosminski, a Jewish immigrant from Poland who was one of the main suspects during the Whitechapel murders.
In his second book on the case, Edwards not only identified the Ripper but also the reason why he mutilated his victims in such a way and how he evaded justice. Jack the Ripper slaughtered at least five women in the Whitechapel area of east London between August and November 1888. Victims had internal organs removed, leading to speculation that the killer had surgical skills. The brutal killings of mainly prostitutes from April 1888 to February 1891, known as the Whitechapel murders, were investigated by the police.
Edwards’ investigative work involved extensive DNA tests on blood and semen stains found on a shawl allegedly belonging to one of the victims. The analysis, with the help of distant relatives of both the victim and the suspect, confirmed the identity of Jack the Ripper as Aaron Kosminski. Kosminski, who was born in 1865 and had a troubled upbringing, became a key suspect during the murder investigation held in the late 1800s. The revelation sheds light on the unsolved case that has intrigued and baffled many for over a century.
Despite the refusal to exhume Kosminski’s body, DNA matching from the shawl stains to his descendants provided solid evidence of his involvement. Edwards’ work delves into Kosminski’s background and suggests a connection between the Ripper’s actions and Freemasonry, potentially shielding him from arrest. The revelation of Jack the Ripper’s identity brings closure to a long-standing mystery that has captured public fascination for decades.
