A woman from Neath, Sara Manchipp, shared her terrifying experience of being targeted by a sick stalker who sent her anonymous messages outlining gruesome details of rape, murder, and necrophilia. The ordeal began when Sara received a disturbing message while checking her Facebook on the train, describing in brutal detail how the sender planned to harm her. Initially thinking it was a sick joke, Sara soon realised it was serious and felt vulnerable and frightened.
The stalker continued to send messages, including personal details about Sara’s life, increasing her sense of vulnerability. Feeling threatened and targeted, Sara became hypervigilant, suspecting everyone around her. Eventually, Sara reported the situation to the police, who acted promptly and took her concerns seriously, urging her to report every message received.
The police successfully tracked down the perpetrator, who had targeted other women as well. He admitted to his offences against 10 women, leading to a two-and-a-half-year jail sentence and restraining orders. While Sara was somewhat relieved by the outcome, she believed the sentence should have been tougher considering the impact on the victims.
Reflecting on her experience, Sara now advocates for caution when sharing personal information online. She warns others to be mindful of content posted on social media, as she learned firsthand the dangers of oversharing.
