A mother nearly lost her life after purchasing ‘fake’ weight loss injections for £20 on Facebook. Jodie Jones, a mum of three from Eryrys in Wales, had to be rushed to the hospital by one of her children after suffering a violent reaction to the jabs. The 37-year-old experienced delirium, unconsciousness, and vomiting blood following the intake of the injections. Doctors are unsure about the contents of the jabs, but tests are underway to determine more information.
Jodie had gained weight due to taking pregabalin, a medication for nerve pain, and found it challenging to exercise due to spinal cord issues. Wanting to slim down from a size 14 to a size 10, she decided to try the weight loss injections after witnessing others achieving results. Contacting a beautician recommended by a friend on Facebook, Jodie bought four injections for £20 each. Although the first injection led to a notable weight loss of half a stone in a week, the second jab caused severe illness within hours—resulting in vomiting, loss of consciousness, and delirium.
Admitted to Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Jodie was discharged the next day and has sworn off using the injections again, believing she had received a ‘fake’ product. She now advises others to consult the NHS and healthcare professionals for weight loss support rather than resorting to potentially unsafe practices. Jodie’s warning comes after her harrowing experience, urging caution and advocating for safe and verified weight loss methods over dubious alternatives offered on social media platforms.
