‘I’m a cancer dietician and there are 10 foods I would never eat’

A cancer dietician has shared the 10 foods and drinks she avoids to maintain good health. Nichole Andrews, a registered dietician and oncology specialist, recently took to TikTok to outline her list of items to steer clear of for cancer prevention. The 38-year-old’s video went viral, garnering 2.9 million views, as she stressed the importance of eating well for better treatment outcomes.

Alcohol is the first item on Nichole’s list, with all types, including red wine, seen to increase the risk of six different cancers due to the ethanol content. Processed meats like pepperoni come next, known to heighten colorectal cancer risk. Nichole also avoids cold meats and sugary beverages, opting for healthier alternatives when dining out.

Hot dogs, artificial sweeteners over sugar, and moderation in red meat consumption follow on her list. Nichole emphasises choosing whole grains over white grains for their cancer prevention benefits. She also recommends dairy milk over plant-based options for their nutrient content and lower cancer risks associated with consumption.

Being mindful of coffee choices is crucial, with Nichole opting for lower-calorie options when enjoying blended coffees. Overall, Nichole’s guidance centres around making informed choices for a healthier diet that supports cancer prevention.
