Cancer dietician says there are 10 foods she’d ‘never eat’ – and one is a ‘safe choice’

A cancer dietician has shared a list of 10 common foods and drinks she avoids to maintain her health, and is urging others to do the same. Nichole Andrews, a registered dietician and nutritionist specialising in oncology, spoke on TikTok sharing her list, which quickly went viral with 2.9 million views.

The expert highlighted her avoidance of alcohol, stating that all types of alcohol increase the risk of six different cancers due to the ethanol content. Processed meats, including pepperoni, were flagged as increasing colorectal cancer risk at any consumption. Cold meats, sugary beverages, and empty calories from drinks were also on her list to avoid.

Nichole recommended making homemade hot dogs with raw sausage meat and wholegrain buns, avoiding excess sugar by using artificial sweeteners, and limiting red meat consumption to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. She emphasised opting for coffee as a safe choice but cautioned against high-calorie coffee orders.

Choosing whole grains over white grains, preferring cow’s milk for its nutrients and cancer-prevention properties, and incorporating lean dairy into the diet were also part of Nichole’s dietary advice. By making these food choices, she believes individuals can reduce the risk of various cancers and maintain better overall health.

Ultimately, Nichole’s insights aim to clarify misconceptions around cancer prevention and empower people to make informed dietary decisions. Her professional experience and dedication to oncology nutrition underscore the importance of a balanced and mindful approach to food choices for overall health and well-being.
