Man made £250,000 on eBay before age of 20 and bought a Porsche

A 20-year-old man from Luton, Joseph Holman, made headlines recently for his extraordinary success on eBay before the age of 20, which saw him amass over £250,000 in earnings and purchase a Porsche with the profits. Joseph began his entrepreneurial journey at just 12 years old when he dabbled in selling items on eBay. Using his dad’s account and some birthday money to kickstart his venture, Joseph found early success by selling magnetic stick and ball games at a marked-up price. This initial endeavour sparked a passion for buying and selling, leading to a thriving business that earned him around £30,000 by the time he was 16.

With a keen eye for profit, Joseph expanded his business over the years, dealing in various items from soaps to statues, baths to bikes, and more. By the age of 17, he was reportedly making £50,000 annually and had upgraded from a moped to a car for more efficient operations. By the time he turned 20, Joseph had accumulated over £200,000 in earnings from eBay and was able to acquire a Porsche, a testament to his early success on the platform.

Although transitioning to adulthood led Joseph to start his own upcycling company called Green Door, he still reminisces about his time as the “eBay King.” Reflecting on the changing landscape of the platform, Joseph shared valuable tips for aspiring eBay entrepreneurs, emphasising the importance of research, product presentation, and pricing strategies. He highlighted the significance of showcasing products effectively through photos and descriptions and advised on setting competitive prices to attract buyers.

In light of recent fee adjustments on eBay, Joseph acknowledged the impact these changes might have on sellers, noting the potential benefits for profiting from newer items but expressing concerns about the sustainability implications. With his insights and experiences, Joseph hopes to guide others in maximising their success on eBay and leveraging the platform for lucrative sales opportunities.

As eBay continues to evolve amidst growing competition from platforms like Vinted and Depop, Joseph’s journey serves as both an inspiration and a cautionary tale for online sellers seeking to navigate the ever-changing e-commerce landscape.
