A sticky yellow substance was dripping from a boiler – engineer felt ‘panic’ when he looked inside

A heating company in Swansea, Hale Heating and Renewables, recently shared an extraordinary story involving a customer in Bridgend. The customer had reported hearing a “buzzing” sound coming from their newly installed boiler, accompanied by a yellow substance dripping from it. Director Ashley Hale sent an engineer to investigate the issue. Upon inspecting the boiler, the engineer was surprised to find a large honeybee nest inside.

The engineer’s initial reaction was panic upon seeing the unexpected sight. He carefully replaced the boiler’s case, secured it, and made the boiler safe. Mr. Hale described the incident as “one in a million,” explaining that a Queen bee had flown in through the flue, leading to the bees nesting inside the boiler. Despite informing the manufacturer of the unusual occurrence, they declined to cover the boiler’s replacement.

Moved by the customer’s plight, Mr. Hale decided to go above and beyond to assist. Learning that the customer had already paid a beekeeper £1,500 to resolve the issue, which left him facing the prospect of a cold winter without proper heating, Hale Heating and Renewables installed a new boiler free of charge. Mr. Hale covered the cost personally, illustrating the company’s commitment to customer care and support.

With years of experience in the industry, Mr. Hale highlighted the unprecedented nature of the situation, emphasising that he had never encountered such a scenario before. Through their actions, Hale Heating and Renewables demonstrated their dedication to customer service and aftercare, showcasing the importance of choosing a reliable boiler company with a robust aftercare policy.

The incident, which unfolded in August, served as a reminder of the company’s ethos and commitment to helping customers in need. Mr. Hale’s proactive approach to resolving the issue and ensuring the customer’s wellbeing reflected the values of the company. This exemplary act of kindness and generosity has not gone unnoticed, reinforcing the importance of compassionate and considerate service within the industry.
