Met Office’s chief meteorologist, Jason Kelly, emphasized the likelihood of strong winds across western Scotland on Friday morning, easing later in the day but potentially reaching speeds of 45-55mph and exceeding 60mph in exposed locations. The weather pattern is expected to remain unsettled throughout the weekend, with further rain on Saturday clearing up towards the end of the day. However, by Sunday, a deep low-pressure system from the Atlantic may bring widespread strong winds, especially affecting northern and western areas, leading to possible disruptions.
Deputy chief meteorologist Tony Wisson stated that uncertainty remains regarding the strength and track of the weather system, advising the public to stay updated with the latest forecasts. RAC Breakdown spokesman, Alice Simpson, warned of hazardous driving conditions due to the stormy weather, particularly in the north and west of the UK. As a yellow warning for wind is in place for Sunday until midday on Monday, areas like Conwy, Gwynedd, and the Isle of Anglesey in Wales are advised to stay vigilant.
