A young woman in Wales has shared a miraculous story of survival after being struck by lightning and dying for 17 minutes. Thalita Teixeira, a 32-year-old intensive care nurse, had just finished a long shift and was walking her dog on the beach when she was hit directly by lightning. Doctors gave her a one in 71 million chance of surviving.
Thalita recalled waking up in the hospital four days later, with no memory of the lightning strike. She suffered severe burns to her chest and spine, leading to paralysis for two months and ongoing mobility challenges. Describing the ordeal, she explained how the lightning had caused extensive internal injuries, swelling in the brain, kidney failure, and partial deafness.
Despite the odds stacked against her, Thalita has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation, spending most of her time in a wheelchair and using a walker.
