An NHS doctor, Arthur Joustra, working in the emergency department, shared insights on five things he would never do after his experiences. Dr. Joustra revealed his views in a TikTok video, highlighting precautions to avoid certain consequences. Among the activities he advised against were hiking or climbing in flip flops, especially in more challenging terrains like Mount Snowdon, to prevent open ankle fractures.
The doctor also cautioned against motorbiking without proper equipment such as helmets, pads on all joints, and leathers, advising against wearing jeans and a T-shirt for safety. Additionally, he stressed the importance of not engaging in drug use due to severe health risks like arrhythmias, heart attacks, and deaths that he had encountered in patients.
Dr. Joustra also advised against consuming leftover food left out overnight to prevent salmonella and e-coli infections, based on his observations from the emergency department. Lastly, he expressed reservations about travelling abroad for surgeries, especially for aesthetic procedures like breast augmentation, emphasising the importance of appropriate aftercare and consulting one’s regular doctor before undergoing such operations.
The doctor’s insights shed light on practices to avoid potential risks and maintain overall well-being. His recommendations serve as valuable reminders for individuals to prioritise safety and health in various aspects of their lives.
