All the road closures planned for the Cardiff 10k Sunday, September 1

City-wide road closures will be in effect for the Cardiff 10K event set to take place in Wales’ capital this Sunday, September 1. With 7,000 participants expected to race, this year’s event is anticipated to be the largest in its 38-year history, with all entries already sold out. Runners will navigate a flat and fast route around Cardiff, offering participants a scenic tour of the city.

To ensure the safety of the runners, Cardiff Council has implemented rolling road closures around the city centre. The Civic Centre will be closed from 7am on Saturday, August 31 until 6pm on Sunday, September 1. On the day of the event, various road closures will be enforced from 9am to 1pm, affecting areas such as North Road, Kingsway, and Cowbridge Road East, among others.

A lane closure will also be in place on Western Avenue. Moreover, traffic management stewards will control a prohibited right turn and manage access to designated areas. Cardiff Council’s website provides detailed information on the city-wide road closures. Additionally, for those travelling by train into Cardiff to participate or spectate, Transport for Wales has announced a rail replacement service due to maintenance work on the Rhymney and Coryton lines on August 31 and September 1.

As thousands of runners prepare to take part in the Cardiff 10K, road users and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, considering the scheduled road closures and alternative transport arrangements in place for this exciting event in the heart of Cardiff.
