Linda Nolan, a member of the beloved family pop group The Nolans, has shared a heartbreaking health update as her battle with cancer continues. The 65-year-old singer recently revealed that the tumours in her brain have grown, leading to the decision to start a new cancer drug treatment. In a candid interview with The Mirror, Nolan expressed her emotional reaction to the news, stating, “I sobbed when my consultant first told me. I know so many people are suffering and going through things, but I thought, just for once, could cancer just leave me alone? My heart sank.”
Reflecting on her deteriorating health, Nolan described how her balance and memory have been affected, requiring assistance from her sisters during conversations. Despite the challenges, she remains resilient and determined, saying, “Thankfully, he is not saying ‘we can’t do anything for you’. We have more places to go. I am ready to try anything. I have done this before and I can do it again.”
The new treatment involves a drug called Enhertu, offering Nolan hope and a sense of optimism. She highlighted the importance of access to such life-extending drugs, acknowledging the privilege of being able to try a new treatment. Nolan’s journey with cancer began in 2005 with a diagnosis of breast cancer, which resurfaced in 2017 and has since spread to her brain, bones, and liver.
Despite the uncertainties and potential side effects of the treatment, including the possibility of losing her hair again, Nolan remains steadfast in her resolve to fight the disease. The decision to pursue the new drug marks a significant step in her ongoing battle against cancer and symbolises her unwavering determination to overcome the challenges she faces.
This update comes after a previous positive report in December, where Nolan shared news of her brain tumours shrinking. The support of her family, including her sister Anne, who is now cancer-free after her own battle, reinforces the importance of unity and strength in facing health adversities.
As Linda Nolan continues her courageous fight against cancer, her resilience and determination inspire many, underscoring the importance of hope and perseverance in challenging times. Her openness about her struggles serves as a reminder of the importance of support and solidarity in confronting difficult circumstances.
