I’ve recently discovered my new favourite Jo Malone perfume at Aldi for only £7, offering long-lasting fragrance. As reported by Charlotte Smith on Wales Online, being a fan of Jo Malone perfumes for years, I understand the allure of their scents but also their high prices. The Lime, Basil and Mandarin cologne, my top pick from Jo Malone, costs a hefty £118 for a 100ml bottle. However, I stumbled upon a remarkably similar alternative at Aldi priced at just £6.99.
Aldi’s version, part of their Hotel Collection range, boasts a 100ml bottle of Lime, Basil and Mandarin Eau de Parfum, which is a fantastic £111 cheaper than the Jo Malone offering. The affordable perfume at Aldi has impressed me with its similar scent to Jo Malone and its long-lasting effect, even hours after application. When compared side by side, Aldi’s perfume was about 80% similar to Jo Malone’s.
After trying out both perfumes on separate forearms during a day out, I found that Aldi’s version lasted longer than Jo Malone’s, despite the significant price difference. While Jo Malone’s perfume may offer a slightly sweeter and lighter scent, I prefer Aldi’s for everyday use due to its affordability and endurance. Aldi’s Lime, Basil and Mandarin Eau de Parfum will now have a permanent place in my handbag for regular use, proving to be a worthy alternative to the pricier original.
