Woman lost 10stone thanks to traffic light system

A woman in Wales has successfully lost 10 stone thanks to a unique traffic light system that guided her food choices. Deb Harm, a 57-year-old mother and tyre garage owner, had been struggling with her weight for years due to a busy schedule that led to relying on unhealthy takeaways. After reaching a weight of 20 stone 7 pounds and a dress size of 26 by December 2022, Deb decided to make a change in February 2023.

Joining a weight loss program called Lighter Life, Deb committed to a healthier lifestyle and saw significant progress. By the end of 2023, she had shed 10 stone, now weighing 10 stone 5 pounds and fitting into a dress size 12. Deb credits her success to a structured traffic light system for her meals, designating different types of foods for different days of the week.

Deb’s system includes strict ‘red’ days without carbs and fats from Monday to Thursday, ‘amber’ days with more flexibility on Fridays through Sundays, and ‘green’ days for special occasions. With the support of her family and friends, Deb found a sustainable approach to maintain her weight loss. She expressed happiness with her new weight and lifestyle, highlighting the positive impact on her overall wellbeing.

Reflecting on her weight gain over the past 30 years since becoming a mother and working full-time, Deb recognised the need for a change in her eating habits. She described her old routine of skipping meals due to early work hours, leading to cravings for stodgy fast food and unhealthy snacks. By adopting the Lighter Life program, which provided structured meals, Deb experienced a significant transformation in her health and appearance.

Deb’s success story serves as inspiration to many, demonstrating the effectiveness of a consistent and balanced approach to weight loss. Her remarkable journey from struggling with her weight to achieving a healthier lifestyle showcases the importance of perseverance and finding a system that works best for individual needs and preferences.
