A huge cannabis farm, containing over £450,000 worth of drugs, was discovered in the heart of a Welsh town. Approximately 580 cannabis plants were unearthed during searches at two locations – the old Savers and County Times buildings in Welshpool. Dyfed-Powys Police executed warrants on September 2 and September 3, uncovering cannabis with a potential street value exceeding £450,000. A 31-year-old man has been charged with cultivating cannabis and is due to appear at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 4. Another man, aged 27, was arrested for suspected involvement in cultivating cannabis and remains in police custody.
Police described both sites as “sophisticated set-ups,” where officers recovered large knives, electronic devices, plants, and associated growing equipment. Detective Sergeant Lovatt praised the operation as a success, highlighting the collaboration among various police departments. The police are actively working to target illegal drug activities and have effectively removed a significant amount of cannabis from the supply chain through this operation.
