Cardiff Sixth Form College has been crowned the best independent school in the UK for A level results for the 13th consecutive year, earning the title of “Britain’s brainiest school.” The school achieved exceptional A*-A grades this summer, with 90.74% of students attaining the top grades, surpassing the next best school in the UK by over three percentage points.
Situated in Cardiff, the highly selective college boasts an impressive 58.70% of students achieving the highest A* grade, distinguishing itself as a top academic institution. Notably, the school offers scholarships to high-achieving GCSE students from state schools in Wales.
Among the success stories is Leo Rawson from Blackwood, who secured a scholarship to Cardiff Sixth Form College after excelling in his GCSEs. Rawson has now achieved four A*s in his A levels and is set to pursue physics at Oxford University.
Principal Tom Arrand expressed profound delight in the achievement, attributing the success to the dedication of staff and students. Notably, the college saw half of its students achieving three or more A* grades, with one-third securing four or more A* grades this year.
The institution further solidified its academic prowess with exceptional university placements for its graduates. Twelve students received offers from Oxbridge, with some opting to study subjects such as PPE, medicine, law, and natural sciences. Over half of the cohort gained placements in Russell Group universities, and almost 40% secured spots at prestigious institutions like Oxford and Cambridge.
With a quarter of students enrolling in medicine programmes and 80% securing places at top global universities, Cardiff Sixth Form College continues to excel on both national and international platforms. The college’s continued success underscores its commitment to academic excellence and student achievement.
