A cocaine dealer, Ami Wheeler, 32, from Church Village, near Pontypridd, was sentenced to three years in jail after being found guilty of dealing cocaine and crack cocaine. Wheeler sobbed during the sentencing and pleaded with the judge, asking, “What about my kids?” She tried to blame her ex-boyfriend for manipulating her into the illegal trade, but the court heard she played a leading role in the operation.
The police discovered Wheeler’s drug dealing activities when they observed a drug exchange at her home last year, leading to her arrest. During a sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court, it was revealed that Wheeler had messages on her phone related to the sale of cocaine and crack cocaine. She admitted to being involved in supplying the drugs, and it was disclosed that she had a cocaine habit, and the profits from the drug sales were used to fund her addiction.
Despite claims of being manipulated by her former partner, Wheeler was held responsible for her involvement in drug dealing. The judge, Recorder David Warner, stated that she played a key role in the criminal activity. Wheeler’s emotional response to the sentencing led to cries from the public gallery, and she was taken to the cells following her three-year prison sentence.
The court heard that Wheeler had a history of driving-related convictions and had previously been a victim of domestic abuse by her ex-partner. In her defence, it was mentioned that her former partner had influenced her into selling drugs, but the court found her culpable for her actions. The judge’s decision to impose a three-year prison term on Wheeler elicited an emotional outburst from her, expressing concern about her children.
