Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans has shared his remarkable weight loss journey, shedding an impressive seven stone since his days as the face of the iconic Go Compare adverts. Wynne, who is set to make his Strictly Come Dancing debut, revealed his transformation during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning.
Speaking to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, Wynne expressed, “I have. I just did it. One day I thought, ‘Right, this is it’. And one day I started doing a little bit of running – well, walking, actually, at the start.” He further explained that the call from Strictly motivated him to continue his fitness journey. Wynne devotes his time to his radio show and dance rehearsals, emphasizing the positive impact exercise has had on his mental health.
The 22-stone singer opened up about facing challenging times, including the loss of his parents and the end of his marriage in 2016, which led him to seek help from a psychiatrist. Wynne shared, “It made me very aware of being alone… I had very dark thoughts and very dark days.” To combat this, he turned to exercise, highlighting the benefits of physical activity on his mental well-being.
While Wynne keeps his personal life private, he has shown glimpses of his family, which includes his children, whom he lovingly mentioned upon winning Celebrity MasterChef in 2023. His weight loss journey not only reflects a physical transformation but also an emotional one, demonstrating the power of perseverance and self-care.
