Despite a temporary rise to £70 in 2008 during the financial crisis, the amount reverted to £10 the following year and has remained unchanged since. Bank of England data suggests that if the bonus had increased in line with inflation, it would be £114.75 today; however, adjusting for the latest inflation figures would only take it to £10.22.
