Renowned Cardiff chef, Lee Skeet, had an unexpected wake-up call when he discovered a burglar rummaging through his belongings in Pontcanna, Cardiff. The incident took place at 6am, with Lee hearing someone outside his door before realising that his front door was open and cash amounting to £400 had been stolen from his kitchen. As Lee investigated further, he spotted the burglar in a nearby garden and confronted him.
Utilising his mixed martial arts training, Lee managed to detain the burglar for about 20 minutes before the police arrived. Despite the tense situation, Lee showed restraint and engaged in a conversation with the intruder, eventually feeling a sense of empathy towards him. The burglar, identified as Shaun Powell from Bristol, was arrested and charged with burglary following the incident on Dogo Street in Pontcanna.

He expressed how he could have reacted differently in the past but credited his anger management skills for the controlled response. The police confirmed Powell’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court, where he pleaded guilty to burglary and is awaiting sentencing.
