Oasis fans who missed out on tickets for the band’s two-date show are now facing resold tickets prices reaching nearly £5,000. Fans who received a special code had the chance to purchase tickets on Saturday for the Wembley shows, but success was not guaranteed, as tickets were being sold on a first-come, first-served basis. As of this morning, tickets were being listed on reselling platforms such as Viagogo for prices ranging from £596 to £1,162 for a standing pass, and a VIP pass for £2,614. StubHub also featured high prices, with two standing tickets advertised between £482 and £4,820. The original price for standing tickets at Wembley Stadium was £151.25, with premium packages available for up to £506.25.
Viagogo has defended its reselling practices as legal, citing it as a means to address fans’ frustration with ticket purchasing difficulties for events. The company’s global managing director, Cris Miller, emphasised their commitment to providing fans with a platform to secure tickets, with a money-back guarantee if any issues arise. The controversy surrounding the previous ticket sale prompted the UK government and competition watchdog to announce a review of dynamic pricing practices in the industry.
In response to the situation, Oasis, StubHub, and Viagogo are yet to provide official comments.
