In a remarkable turn of events, Richard Morris, a man who once intended to spend his days touring vineyards around the world, has transformed a crumbling house and fields into a £3.4 million fortune. Back in 1998, Richard bought Ancre Hill house in Monmouth, and 22 years later, he now oversees Ancre Hill Estates, a prestigious property encompassing three vineyards, a winery producing around 30,000 bottles annually, and a sizeable refurbished farmhouse at Newton Court Farm, all up for sale at the £3.4 million mark.
Taking a stroll through his sprawling vineyard on a chilly morning, Richard points out the impact of starlings on his chardonnay vines, despite potential losses of up to £8,000. Richard’s journey began when he sold his transport business and planned early retirement with his wife Joy.
