Sainsbury’s is set to hire 20,000 shop workers, warehouse staff, and drivers across the UK for the Christmas period. These seasonal positions will last up to three months, with 18,000 roles at Sainsbury’s and 2,000 at Argos. Jobs include restocking shelves, preparing stock in warehouses, and home delivery drivers. Hourly rates range from £12 to £13.50 for in-store and warehouse roles, and between £13 and £14.65 for drivers.
Workers will receive perks such as free food during shifts and a 10% discount at stores, increasing to 15% on Fridays and Saturdays at Sainsbury’s and on paydays at Argos. Prerana Issar, Sainsbury’s chief people officer, highlighted the opportunity to gain skills and meet new people during the busy festive season. Sainsbury’s, the UK’s second-largest supermarket, experienced a sales boost last Christmas, with record purchases of festive favourites like pigs in blankets and mince pies.
Interested applicants can apply for fixed-term contracts ranging from three weeks to three months.
