A weight-loss doctor has highlighted that everyday household items could be hindering weight loss efforts. Professor Franklin Joseph from Dr Frank’s Weight Loss Clinic explained that certain common products contain chemicals called endocrine disruptors, which can affect hormones, making it challenging to lose weight and easier to gain it.
The top five unsuspecting culprits identified by Professor Joseph that might contribute to weight gain include plastic containers and bottles containing BPA, non-stick cookware with PFOA, air fresheners and scented candles with phthalates, personal care products with parabens and triclosan, and canned foods lined with BPA-containing resins. Making changes like switching to glass or stainless steel containers, using alternative cookware materials, opting for natural air fresheners, choosing paraben and phthalate-free personal care products, and selecting fresh or frozen foods over canned ones can help reduce exposure to these harmful chemicals.
Professor Joseph emphasised that these minor adjustments in daily life choices can have a significant impact on overall health and weight management. By minimising contact with these disruptive chemicals, individuals can take proactive steps towards achieving better long-term results.
These findings underscore the importance of being aware of the potential impact of household items on health and weight management. Making informed decisions about the products used in day-to-day life can contribute to a healthier lifestyle and support weight loss goals.
