A popular BBC DJ, Danny Stubbs, has passed away at the age of 40 after a year-long battle with a rare cancer. Stubbs was known for his work as a music producer and DJ, playing at venues like Gatecrasher and Ministry of Sound, as well as featuring on BBC radio and remixing tracks for artists such as U2 and Ariana Grande. His wife, Danielle, paid tribute to him as a “beautiful” person inside and out, highlighting his strength and resilience throughout his illness.
Stubbs was diagnosed with Stage 4 oesophageal adenocarcinoma in August 2023, a rare and inoperable cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes and bones. Despite the devastating news, Stubbs continued to live life to the fullest, engaging in activities like skiing and half marathons. His wife recalled how they got engaged shortly after his diagnosis, demonstrating their love and commitment to each other.
The couple swiftly organized their wedding within 12 weeks and tied the knot in November 2023, followed by a Christmas honeymoon in Switzerland. Stubbs passed away on August 24 at St Luke’s Hospice in Winsford, leaving behind his daughter, brothers, and parents. Danielle expressed her gratitude for the support they received and remembered Stubbs as a remarkable individual who fought bravely till the end.
Reflecting on their time together, Danielle cherished the love they shared and thanked everyone who had been a part of their journey. She described Stubbs as a shining light and vowed to keep his legacy alive. Despite the sorrow of his passing, she finds solace in knowing that he is no longer in pain and at peace.
