‘I was obese, unfit, and using drink and drugs but one thing changed it all’

A man from south Wales, Terry Rosoman, shared his remarkable transformation story of going from being obese, unfit, and relying on drink and drugs to completely turning his life around. When Terry turned 29, he realized he needed to make a change. Working long hours during the week and partying hard on weekends had taken a toll on his health. Terry acknowledged that he was in the worst physical shape of his life, weighing over 100kg, being a heavy smoker and drinker, and feeling deeply unhappy.

Realizing he needed a radical change, Terry signed up for a white-collar boxing match as a turning point. He embarked on an intense fitness regime that involved quitting drinking, smoking, and unhealthy eating. In just 12 weeks, he lost three stone and won his first boxing bout. This marked the beginning of Terry’s journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

Terry’s commitment to fitness led him to compete in various endurance challenges, half marathons, and ultra-marathons. He also raised around £8,000 for mental health charities over the years, as exercise became a crucial part of maintaining his mental well-being. Terry emphasized the importance of physical activity in improving mental health and urged others facing similar struggles to give it a try.

Now, at the age of 39, Terry is preparing for his next big challenge: running the world’s largest-known GPS drawing, covering a route of 74 miles through the Black Mountains in Powys and Monmouthshire. Despite the unconventional nature of his upcoming challenge, Terry is using it as a platform to raise awareness for men’s health and mental well-being.

Terry’s story serves as an inspiration for those looking to make positive changes in their lives. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to physical and mental well-being, Terry managed to overcome his previous lifestyle and is now a thriving individual, continuing to push his boundaries through new challenges and fundraising efforts.
