Tracy recounted feeling isolated in her journey as none of her friends shared a similar experience. Disparities in available services based on geographic location added further complexity to Tracy’s quest for the best support for Hartley. Despite facing challenges, Tracy persevered in providing her son with private physiotherapy, underscoring the inequities that exist for families with limited resources.

Hartley’s development, from initially struggling to speak and walk to now being vocal and active, showcased his resilience and determination. Inspired by her experiences, Tracy penned a play titled “Mumfighter,” which delves into the struggles and triumphs of securing assistance for a disabled child. The play, set in a boxing ring and directed by Richard Mylan, mirrors Tracy’s own journey and aims to shed light on the challenges faced by families in similar situations.
Tracy’s play, a blend of reality and fiction, serves as a platform to discuss the complexities of caregiving and the need for a supportive system.
