A man has appeared in Cardiff Magistrates’ Court accused of murder, following the death of Victoria “Vicki” Thomas, 45. The victim was found dead at a house on Caerphilly Road in Cardiff, prompting a murder investigation. Alcwyn Thomas, 44, of Caerphilly Road, appeared in court and did not enter a plea to the charge of murdering Ms Thomas, who also resided on Caerphilly Road. The court remanded the defendant in custody as Deputy District Judge Daniel Church adjourned the case to August 27 at Cardiff Crown Court.
After Vicki Thomas’ tragic death, her family issued a heart-wrenching statement describing her as a much-loved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. They expressed their devastation and requested privacy during their grieving process. Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell of South Wales Police extended the force’s support to Vicki’s family and appreciated the community’s cooperation during the investigation.
The defendant, Alcwyn Thomas, was charged following an incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, August 20, at a property on Caerphilly Road. While in court, Thomas wore a grey sweatshirt and confirmed his personal details. Neither the prosecution nor the defense raised any issues during the hearing. The case was adjourned to Cardiff Crown Court where further legal proceedings will take place. The family of the victim continues to receive support from the police, and the investigation into the tragic incident remains ongoing.
