Police in Newport are urgently seeking information on two cyclists who were captured on CCTV near the last known sighting of missing man, Marcus Barter. Barter, a 30-year-old father, has been missing for over three weeks, prompting his family to release a plea for help in locating him.
The first cyclist was seen on Coed y Caerau Lane at approximately 3.05pm on Thursday, August 1, around the same time and location where Marcus was last seen. A second cyclist was captured on CCTV cycling along the same road at 6.20pm on the same day. Additionally, a white van was also recorded on CCTV in the area at 2.20pm on August 1.
Detective Chief Inspector David Morris, leading the investigation, emphasized the importance of finding Marcus and urged anyone with information to come forward. Extensive searches, including the use of search teams, dogs, drones, and the police helicopter, have been conducted in the vicinity of Marcus’ last sighting.
Police are also appealing to motorists who were in the area on the day of Marcus’ disappearance, particularly between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, to provide any relevant information or dashcam footage they may have. Marcus is described as a six-foot-tall man with a large build, dark brown hair shaved on the back and sides, and was last seen wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt, and sliders.
