A person has died after an incident on a Welsh railway line. Officers from the British Transport Police responded to reports of an incident on the track between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth on Wednesday, August 28. Sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A BTP statement said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at 3.30pm yesterday (August 28) near Aberystwyth Railway Station. Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The line was blocked while emergency services worked at the scene, leading to some trains being cancelled with buses transporting passengers. National Rail shared customer advice, stating that “A person has been hit by a train between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, some lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled or revised until approximately 18:00. Rail replacement buses are operating between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.”
