Official resale site Twickets has decided to reduce its fees in response to the recent Oasis ticket price controversy. After furious fans spent hours in queues on Ticketmaster trying to secure tickets to the band’s 2025 reunion tour, many discovered tickets were either sold out or being resold at inflated prices. The dismay was compounded when resale tickets on Twickets included hefty fees on top of already high prices.
Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system, which adjusts ticket prices based on demand, received widespread criticism. Fans expressed outrage at seeing standing tickets double in price from £150 to £356.80. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has promised to investigate surge pricing in an upcoming review of the secondary ticket sales market.
Twickets has responded by slashing its fees on Oasis tickets to lessen the financial burden on fans. Initially, fans faced nearly £80 in fees for two standing tickets priced at £357.85, but Twickets has now reduced its booking fee to 10% and capped fees at £25 per ticket.
Moreover, Twickets has committed to refund the price difference to fans who purchased tickets before the fee reduction. The platform highlighted that sellers do not incur charges for reselling tickets, and all fees collected contribute to maintaining the site.
Twickets and Ticketmaster are the only authorised resale platforms endorsed by Oasis’ management. Oasis issued a warning to fans to only purchase tickets through TicketmasterUK and Twickets, ensuring they are sold at face value.
Twickets founder Richard Davies explained the rationale behind the fee adjustment, emphasising the platform’s commitment to fair pricing. He noted that Twickets aims to provide a fan-first resale marketplace, partnering with various artists and events to offer a safe and affordable ticket exchange platform.
Resale tickets for Oasis’ 2025 tour will be available on both Ticketmaster and Twickets. Ticketmaster will facilitate fan-to-fan resale at face value, while Twickets promises that buyers will not pay more than the original ticket price.
