A woman in her 60s has tragically died in hospital 17 days after being involved in a crash between a car and a lorry. The incident occurred in the Tan-y-Bwlch area of Maentwrog, Gwynedd, on Tuesday, August 13. North Wales Police responded to the crash before 10.20am, reporting that the woman was driving a Fiat Abarth which collided with an HGV.
Following the collision, the victim was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, she passed away on Friday, August 30. A dog that was also in the car at the time of the crash sustained injuries and was treated successfully by a vet, making a full recovery.
Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of NWP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit extended condolences to the woman’s family during this challenging time. She appealed for witnesses of the collision or anyone with dash cam footage from the A487 before the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
