Nigella Lawson unveils her favourite quick and easy solo dining recipe: Gochujang Pasta

Nigella Lawson, the renowned celebrity chef, has recently shared her favourite quick and easy solo dining recipe – Gochujang Pasta. This delicious dish can be prepared in just 15 minutes, using a handful of healthy ingredients that are likely already in your pantry. Lawson’s recipe is perfect for those dining alone, offering a convenient and flavourful meal option.

The inspiration behind this recipe came from an Ocado survey that highlighted the joys of eating alone, including the freedom to enjoy whatever dishes one desires. Lawson commented on her preferred solo supper choices, mentioning her version of spaghetti with garlic and chilli flakes, as well as Bold Beans warmed up with olive oil and lemon zest. However, her ultimate go-to solo dining recipe is the spicy yet comforting orzo pasta with gochujang, which she affectionately calls Go-To Gochu Pasta.

The survey also uncovered interesting insights into solo dining habits, revealing that convenience is a top priority for 58 per cent of solo diners, while 65 per cent find cooking for themselves to be a peaceful and satisfying activity. Younger generations are more adventurous with their solo meals, spending an average of 42 minutes preparing evening meals compared to 24 minutes for Gen X. Furthermore, a third of adults admitted to being hesitant when cooking alone with new ingredients or trying new recipes, with some indulging in ‘unusual habits’ like eating directly from the pan.

Laura Harricks, Ocado Retail’s chief customer officer, emphasised the importance of not compromising on flavour and variety even when dining alone. She encouraged solo diners to experiment with new flavours and recipes, citing Lawson’s Gochujang Pasta recipe as a perfect example.

For those eager to recreate Nigella Lawson’s Gochujang Pasta, here is the recipe:
